Switching to Earthbound Farm Organic Greens

Members who received greens the last couple of weeks already know that we have been offering the Earthbound Farm organic one pound spring mix. Moving forward, this will be what we continue to offer for our spring mix. We also have 3 new greens selections to order.

Why the switch?

Moving forward, we’ve made the choice to offer Earthbound Farm organic salads to our members. This means we now have several new items you can choose from. It also means we will no longer carry the Revol line. In the past we have enjoyed offering Revol Salads, but they would only offer their organic product if their partners also carried their conventional salad mixes too.

We will continue to offer a one pound Spring Mix as we have in the past. We will now be offering the Earthbound Farm organic one pound spring mix.

Organic First

Earthbound Farm isn’t local. We struggled with the choice between what was more important: organic or local. We put a lot of weight into what you, our members, told us what was most important to you in the produce and end of year surveys we recently sent out.

In the end, we don’t feel offering conventional salad greens is in line with our mission of offering healthy food that our members can fully trust. The organic standard isn’t perfect, but it really does mean something.

Why Organic

Organic products mean that we know they are grown without synthetic pesticides and other synthetic chemicals.

Another example of our dedication to food you can trust is that all of our bakery products are organic. While they cost more than grocery options, those are almost always conventional, we believe that difference is critically important.

We will continue to work on a local option and talk with our TC Farmers about offering an a la carte salad green mix (like you’ll see in the seasonal produce packages). However, for a year-round option, we feel that partnering with Earthbound Farm is the best option for now.

Besides continuing to offer a one pound Spring Mix as we have in the past, we are excited to also offer these new products:

• Organic Herb Salad (5oz – small pack) – a spring mix that includes herbs – parsley, dill and cilantro. This is a true ready-to-go salad. Just add some dressing!
• Organic 50/50 Mix (5oz – small pack) – this mix includes spring mix and baby spinach! Great for salads, sandwiches and wraps. Includes baby chard and radicchio!
• Organic Baby Spinach (one pound) – this is a go to for smoothies, salads, pizzas and more. Tender spinach leaves with a punch of nutrients.

We will continue to work to improve the local options for organic salad mix. For now, we hope you enjoy the organic salads from Earthbound Farm!
