Milk Update for May

Still waiting on final approval. Expected launch: Summer 2022

Posted on May 05, 2022

When We Last Left Off

It's been a little over a month since our last update about TC Farm milk. We delivered samples of the milk to our members last fall (yay!) and have been "almost ready" to start delivering for the last several months. But we are still waiting for the final green light. Read on to learn more about what's up and expected timing.

TC Farm had been aiming for a spring launch of our milk based on the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA)'s preliminary approval of our plans for the cardboard carton. Another agency added additional requirements and we were drawing up plans to meet those.

Flyer we included with our milk samples last fall. Goes into detail about what makes TC Farm Milk different.

The Latest

The MDA approved our plan but there was excessive cost to some of the construction requested. TC Farm came back with two alternative proposals. The one we expect to be approved is simple and was submitted early last week. We should know their reply soon.

If they approve that, we think minimal / no construction is required. We just need a second milk tank to conduct testing on before the bottling step.

After that, it will be 6-8 weeks to get the cartons themselves. So our new estimate is “Summer 2022” – it could be as early as July. But again, after going a few rounds now making sure all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed, we want to make sure every knew where we are at.

After a many years of planning and getting ready to deliver pasture raised milk, we are so close – but of course, until we get the final final green light, we can’t put the order for our cartons and get it delivered to our members.

Soon!

Bonus: Milk Tip/Pun

As a thank you for continuing to follow our milk updates, we wanted to share this milk tip:

Be careful to not serve milk to someone who is open-minded but hasn't yet had breakfast.

They are lack-toast and tolerant.

(Sorry/not sorry.)
