Reuse is better than recycle... but only if done right

Reuse is so much better

We really like reusing items. It is just such a bummer to have to toss out really anything, even if it gets recycled or composted. Here are the things that we really want you to return for reuse:

1) TC Farm foam coolers

2) TC Farm insulated bags

3) Gel packs that we use to keep produce warm in the winter and cold in the summer

4) Clean egg cartons

But it is SO important that reusing gets done right. Without your help, we simply can not afford to reuse some of these items.

Help us continue to offer reused egg cartons

Egg cartons - please help!

We are at a point where too many cartons are coming back with stains on them or tears.

Too many are not stacked nicely.

We can not afford to spend hours and hours every week sorting cartons and stacking them.

At neighborhood sites, we know the hosts wind up stacking cartons for members too -

Please do NOT return cartons that are unstacked OR have any defects in them.

We can't reuse soiled cartons of any sort and we can't afford to spend the time sorting them

If we can't get better compliance with this, we will have to stop reusing cartons and we really don't want to have to do that!

Foam coolers and insulated bags

If you've read our new BIG news milk article and the updated packaging on the dried fruit and nuts, then you know how much we simply hate having plastic. Foam coolers or insulated bags are just as undesirable. However, they are very effective at keeping items cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The nice thing about these is that they are VERY reusable.

Please keep the foam coolers and insulated bags clean and return for reuse and ideally put a rock or brick on top to prevent them from blowing away.

It is a HUGE, HUGE help if you can remove any stickers with your name on them.

You can leave the gel packs inside of the cooler or the bag. We specifically purchased super high quality "leak proof" gel packs that will stand up to many, many reuses. They work great to keep items warm in the winter and cool in the summer - please help us by returning them for reuse as well.
