Planting Information
- We planted them in “Jiffy Strip” peat moss containers to limit our use of plastic. They are biodegradable! They can be planted with your plant, no need to tease the plant out of the pot and risk damaging the roots! Super easy, just plant as is! And no single use plastic!
- They should be planted within a week. Until you plant them, make sure they are fully watered to the bottom of the cell (but not overwatered, plants need to breathe too!)
- The crops that are sensitive to frost are the tomatoes and peppers, so keep an eye on the weather. We should be safe from frost by now, but who knows. Last year we had a frost on May 22! It’s okay to plant them right when you get them, but if you do see frosty weather coming, go ahead and put a bed sheet over them.
- These are the exact same plants we plant on our farm. They may not be as big as the ones you’d see in a garden store, but bigger isn’t always better. A healthy plant put into healthy soil will mature at the exact same time, no matter if it was big or tiny when it was planted (Gigantic doesn’t count in this equation). The “timer” starts when it can start growing roots beyond its container.
- Make sure to keep them watered!
We hope you enjoy! - Farmer Becca
