Late this spring, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) awarded TC Farm its 2022 MDA AGRI Value-Added Grant.
The Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) program was set up by the state of Minnesota to support the advancement of Minnesota’s agricultural and renewable energy industries. Individuals, farmers, businesses, agricultural cooperatives, local government entities, and Tribal governments are eligible to apply for them.
TC Farm will be able to use the funds to cover part of the costs of additional delivery vans to build out our service range as well as getting additional equipment for our warehouse to help streamline packing plus some deli/kitchen equipment for some future stuff we've got in the works for our members, too!
If you've been a member of TC Farm for any amount of time, you already know that we are constantly trying to find ways to do what we do better and add to what we can offer. It has taken a lot of work to build the partnerships we have with our farmers, food processors and build out a system that we have today.
This grant was a highly competitive series with hundreds of applicants. For context, we made up less than 1% of the grant applicants and ended up being awarded around 10% of the grant program's total funds for 2022. To have what we are building be recognized by the state is a really big deal.
Of course the logistics and processing and vans and equipment are all there so we can deliver on why we are here: To get the best food, raised the right way, into the homes of our members. That's you!
