Tulip Tips

Spring is here!

Posted on May 04, 2022

If you've already received your tulips or if you are getting ready to get them in the next week or two, we've got a little more stuff to share!

  • The tulips are harvested by Farmer Becca with the bulbs on and the tulips go into a dormant state.
    This helps to
extend the life of the flower and its bloom.
  • Each bouquet will have a mix of tulips at different stages of bloom time.
You’ll see some open faster than others. This is normal.

  • The day before you receive them: the TC Farm team trims the bulbs and puts them in water where they will begin to “perk up”
  • The day you receive them, you’ll notice they continue to “perk up” and then bloom over the next week or longer.

  • Some flower heads may look weak but will improve in the first day or two.
  • Each bouquet has also different varieties.
    • This includes the types of petals (frilly or smooth, short or long) and colors (pastels to deep colors).
    • This will add to the beauty of the bouquet. We thought this was more fun than the using the same variety!

Quick reminders about picking up / bringing inside

If you are getting a home delivery:

  • The tulips will be delivered in their own thermal bag with a damp paper towel wrapped around the tulip stems. We wanted to remind you (in case you had forgotten about the tulips) so you could be sure to take a little extra care when you bring that silver bag containing the flowers inside.

If you are picking up at a neighborhood pickup site:

  • The tulips will be stored in their own cooler and individually labeled. (Your name will be on your tulips)

Be sure to remember to pick them up and be sure to only grab the tulips with your name on them. Otherwise, someone else will go home without their lovely flowers.

Tulips delivered to your home are nicely protected in their own bag. Just remember to be a little gentle when bringing that bag inside.

Thanks again to everyone who was able to order tulips.

We were excited to offer them this May!
They are a fun way to continue to connect our members with our farms.
And it also is great that farmer Becca got to do something for fun and know that the TC Farm team is there to help make a passion project a reality.
